Silsden AFC recorded a 2-0 win against Handsworth FC in today’s NCEL Premier Division fixture.
The Cobbydalers took the lead through Laurence Sorhaindo who slotted home in the 48th minute. A 2-nil victory was then sealed with a 25-yard effort from Jake Taylor just one minute from time.
It’s Silsden’s 8th league win of the season and leaves them in 13th place with 28 points from their 23 matches so far.
Silsden Player/Manager Danny Forrest told OnThePitch WestYorkshire: “It’s been a good week for us. We were a bit down in the dumps following last Saturday’s performance and result against Knaresborough. But the reaction we’ve had since then has been top draw. Two wins, back to back clean sheets and performance levels much better than recent weeks. We attacked with pace and quality especially in the second half, whilst defending with desire and determination. It was a real team effort and it was very pleasing.”
This weekend’s victory came as the club announced plans to expand the ground facilities at the Cobbydale Construction Stadium on Keighley Road, with a new 100-seat stand, hospitality unit, ticket office and standing terracing. If approved by the council’s planning department, the development will be completed over the summer.
