Silsden AFC Ladies make West Riding County Shield final

Silsden AFC’s Ladies football team are through to the final of the West Riding County Women’s Football League Shield after winning their semi-final match.

The Dragons recorded a 1-0 victory over Farsley Celtic Ladies JFC Reserves, with captain Sophie Fagan-Gaines scoring the only goal of the game in Batley.

The side’s run in the competition has included a 5-2 win over Republica Internationale last month and a 3-1 victory over Hemsworth Town Ladies in November.

Silsden – in their first season under manager Liam Marsh – now go on to face either Middleton Athletic or Ossett United in the final. The other semi-final fixture was postponed today because of a waterlogged pitch.

Dragons will be hoping to lift the shield when the match takes place at the West Riding FA’s headquarters in Woodlesford, south east Leeds, on Bank Holiday Friday 8th May at 11am.
