The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for Silsden Beck, meaning immediate action is required as flooding is expected.
Persistent heavy rainfall overnight on Saturday has led to the introduction of the flood warning, with properties round the back of the main street, on St John’s Street most at risk from the rising water levels in the beck.
Some local residents in the most affected areas have received phone calls from the flood warning service. If you don’t already receive these, you can sign up here.
There is also a lot of surface water and large puddles in places across the area, with a chance to make driving conditions difficult through the day.
The Environment Agency says it expects water levels in Silsden Beck to rise until around 11am today (Sunday) as the rain continues through the morning.
The Met Office has an Amber wind warning in place for our region until 9pm tonight and also a Yellow warning of rain.
Northern Powergrid says it is aware of a power cut affecting around 80 properties in Silsden, which was reported just after 9am. Teams are working hard to restore power as quickly as possible and the firm says it’s hoped power will be restored by 12.30pm today.
If you have photos or video footage of damage caused by the storm, you can send it to email@example.com for publication.
